FAQ

What files do you need for an accurate quote?
Best case: a 3D file (STEP, IGES, or X_T) plus a 2D drawing with critical tolerances marked, the resin you want, and your rough annual quantity. Missing some of those? Send what you have. A photo and a sample in the mail are enough to start, and we'll tell you what else the quote needs.
Is the DFM feedback really free? What's the catch?
Free, and there is no catch. Reviewing your file in SolidWorks before quoting protects us too: a draft angle or wall thickness problem caught now costs nothing, but the same problem found after the steel is cut costs both of us weeks. You keep the feedback even if you take the project elsewhere.
Who owns the mold, and what happens to it between orders?
You pay for the tool, you own the tool, and that goes in the contract. Between orders it is stored and maintained in our shop at no charge, ready for the reorder. If you ever move production, we crate the mold and ship it to you. Our oldest customer-owned mold has been running since 1996.
What if the T1 samples don't match the drawing?
Then we fix the tool and sample again. You receive samples with a first article inspection report, dimension by dimension, so any gap is visible on paper, not discovered on your line. Where the gap comes from our workmanship, the correction is on us. Production never starts until you approve in writing.
How long from sending a drawing to parts at my dock?
Quote and DFM feedback take 3 business days, the mold takes 4 to 6 weeks, and the first production batch ships 15 to 25 days after you approve samples. For most projects that adds up to roughly 10 to 12 weeks from drawing to first shipment, plus transit time by sea or air.
Can we start with a small trial order before committing to volume?
Yes. There is no minimum order quantity, so start with whatever quantity proves the part in your market. A trial batch gets the same treatment as a million-piece program: named resin, batch inspection, and full records. When you scale up, the same approved tool keeps running, so nothing about the part changes except the quantity.
