Our Dental OEM History

30 Years of Dental Manufacturing — A Timeline

Every date below is verifiable. Every mold referenced is still documented in our workshop. This is the continuous track record behind our dental OEM program.

1996
First Dental Mold
December 1996 — first dental impression tray mold produced for a US dental supply brand. The relationship that became our longest-running partnership begins.
2004
OEM Contract Formalized
The informal supply relationship is formalized into a long-term OEM contract. Production expands from impression trays to saliva ejectors.
2012
Expansion to 10 Molds
Dental product line expands to include HVE suction tips, tongue scrapers, and specialty evacuator designs. Monthly production crosses 30,000 pieces.
2020
17 Dedicated Molds
Full dental OEM program now covers 17 dedicated molds across 8 tray sizes, multiple saliva ejector designs, tongue scrapers, and custom accessories.
2026
Original 1996 Molds Still Running
Several of our original 1996 dental molds continue producing to original specifications. 50,000+ pieces shipped monthly. Zero returned batches across 30 years.
Why Dental OEM Brands Choose Weilin

Four Reasons US & European Dental Brands Stay With Us for Decades

These are the specific advantages our dental OEM customers cite — not generic manufacturing claims.

🔥

Autoclave-Grade Material Expertise

Dental consumables face repeated 134°C steam sterilization cycles. We specialize in autoclavable grade PP, PC, and PEI — tested to survive 500+ cycles without warping, cracking, or losing dimensional accuracy. We've refined these material specs through 30 years of dental production.

🎨

Multi-Color Precision Tooling

Dental brands often need the same tray or ejector in 5+ colors for product differentiation. Our tooling supports precise Pantone matching and color-change efficiency — critical for brands running saliva ejectors in 6 colors or tongue scrapers across multiple SKUs.

🛠️

Mold Stewardship Since 1996

When you place dental tooling with us, you're trusting us to protect your assets. Several of our active dental molds have been running for 30 years — still producing to original spec. If you need to transfer existing molds from another supplier, we have full mold validation and production-proving experience.

💬

Direct CAD Conversations with the Owner

Most Chinese workshops route technical questions through a translator or separate engineer. Frank personally reviews every dental design in SolidWorks — so DFM questions about draft angles, wall thickness, or autoclave tolerances get answered the same day, by the owner. Fewer handoffs, faster production.

Material Selection

Dental-Grade Materials We Process

Six materials cover 95% of dental consumable manufacturing. Here's what we use most, and when each is the right choice.

Material Key Property Typical Dental Use Autoclave?
PP (Polypropylene) Autoclavable, chemical resistant Saliva ejectors, suction parts Yes — 134°C cycles
PC (Polycarbonate) High clarity, impact resistant Syringe bodies, clear housings Yes — up to 121°C
ABS Strong, rigid, easy to color-match Green impression trays, handle components, applicator bodies No — single use
TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) Soft-touch, biocompatible Handle grips, flexible ejector necks Grade-dependent
LSR (Liquid Silicone) Medical silicone, biocompatible Seals, flexible tips, specialty molds Yes — excellent
PEI (Ultem) High-temp, sterilization-tolerant Premium reusable components Yes — 500+ cycles

All materials supplied with full traceability documentation, batch certificates, and ISO 10993 biocompatibility data where applicable.

How We Work

Our Dental OEM Process — Four Steps

From CAD file to first shipment, typically 6–10 weeks for new dental products.

1

Share Your Design

Send CAD files (STEP, SLDPRT), drawings, or sample parts. NDA signed before any files are reviewed. Frank personally opens SolidWorks files.

2

DFM Review & Quote

24-hour turnaround on quotes. You receive tooling cost, per-unit pricing, and DFM feedback on wall thickness, draft angles, and autoclave tolerances.

3

Mold Build & T1 Samples

4–6 week mold build. T1 samples shipped for your approval. Dimensional reports, autoclave test data, and material certs included.

4

Production & Delivery

Production starts after T1 approval. FAI provided every batch. FOB/CIF/DDP shipping. Frank personally follows up after every delivery.

Common Questions

Dental OEM Manufacturing FAQ

Can you manufacture impression trays in custom shapes and sizes?
Yes. Our standard range covers sizes 1#–9# in both upper and lower arch designs. We also build custom tooling for proprietary tray shapes — this is about 40% of our dental customer requests. Lead time is 4–6 weeks for a new tray mold. Minimum order for custom-tooled trays is typically 10,000 pieces per run.
What colors can you match for saliva ejectors and tongue scrapers?
We match to Pantone Solid Coated standards and can support unlimited custom colors at the masterbatch stage. Most of our dental customers run 4–6 colors per product line. Color change setup takes 30–45 minutes between runs, so we batch color changes efficiently. Color matching samples sent with T1 approval.
Do your materials withstand repeated autoclave cycles?
Yes — autoclave compatibility is core to our dental manufacturing. We use autoclavable PP, PC, PEI, and LSR grades tested to survive repeated 134°C steam sterilization. For reusable components, PEI handles 500+ cycles without degradation. For disposable products (typical saliva ejectors, single-use trays), we supply standard PP which is autoclave-tolerant but designed for single-use.
What's your minimum order quantity for dental products?
There's no fixed minimum. We support prototype runs of 500 pieces for sample approval, pilot production of 10,000–20,000 pieces, and full-scale production up to 1 million+ units annually. Our largest dental OEM program ships 50,000+ pieces monthly. We scale smoothly from pilot to production — no separate "prototype shop" handoff.
Can you accept mold transfers from my existing supplier?
Yes. Mold transfer is something we've done for US and European dental brands multiple times. We receive, inspect, clean, and validate transferred molds before production. Typical mold-transfer timeline is 3–4 weeks from mold arrival to first production batch. We provide full mold condition reports before and after transfer.
Do you provide material certifications for dental applications?
Yes. Every shipment includes material batch certificates, country-of-origin paperwork, and MSDS documentation. For medical-grade materials, we provide ISO 10993 biocompatibility data from our resin suppliers. We operate under ISO 9001 quality management practices, with ISO 13485 evaluation planned for customers requiring it.
How do you protect my dental product IP and designs?
We sign NDAs before any CAD files are shared. Dedicated molds are tagged to your project and stored securely in our workshop — not shared with other customers. We've maintained this principle for 30 years with our longest dental partner. We never manufacture your proprietary designs for any other brand.
Do you ship dental products to the USA and Europe?
Yes — both are our primary export markets. We've shipped dental consumables to US customers monthly for 30 years. We handle FOB, CIF, and DDP shipping terms, plus all export documentation (commercial invoice, packing list, material certs, country of origin). Typical sea freight to US East Coast is 28–35 days; Europe is 30–40 days. Air freight available for urgent orders.
